How to Hide Apps on Android: Set Up and Use Private Space Easily

Hide Sensitive Apps with Private Space

If you want to keep some apps private on your Android phone, you can use Private Space. It creates a separate space on your phone where you can hide and manage apps securely.

What is Private Space?

  • It acts like a hidden vault for apps you don’t want others to find.
  • Data from these apps stays separate from the rest of your phone.
  • You can easily switch between regular apps and private space.
  • It comes with a separate lock for extra security.
  • You can even hide the private space so no one knows it exists.

Important Points:

  • Some people may still detect private space, like those who install apps on your phone or connect your device to a computer.
  • Private space is only available on Android 15 and later.
  • You cannot use it on managed devices (like office phones) or if your phone has more than four user profiles.

How to Set Up Private Space

  1. Open Settings on your phone.
  2. Go to Security & Privacy.
  3. Tap on Private Space.
  4. Unlock with your screen lock (or create one if you don’t have it).
  5. Tap Set UpGot It.
  6. (Optional) Sign in with a different Google account.
  7. Set a new lock for Private Space (or use the existing one).
  8. Tap Done.

How to Lock & Unlock Private Space

  • Lock it manually when you’re done using it.
  • Unlock it with the private space lock whenever needed.

When Private Space is Locked:

  • Apps inside won’t run in the background.
  • No notifications will be shown.
• Apps won’t appear in search, recent apps, or sharing options.

When Private Space is Unlocked:

  • You can use the apps like normal.
  • Notifications will appear with a private space icon.

How to Hide Private Space

  • To hide private space from All Apps:
    • Go to Private Space settings and enable the hide option.
  • To unhide, unlock the private space.

Installing Apps in Private Space

  • Open Private Space → Tap Install App.
  • You can install apps from the Play Store or use different app installers.
  • Apps from outside private space cannot move their data inside it.

Sharing Content from Private Space

  • When unlocked, private space apps can share files.
  • Private space does not receive Bluetooth files from outside.

Why Use a Different Google Account?

Since Private Space is completely separate, it’s best to use a different Google account to prevent data from mixing. If you use the same Google account:

  • Your private photos, contacts, emails, and browsing history may appear outside private space.
  • To keep data safe, create a new Google account for private space.

Limitations of Private Space

  • Some launchers may not support it.
  • VPNs won’t work inside private space.
  • You cannot add widgets, backup private space data, or use smart home devices.
  • If you forget the lock, you cannot recover private space.

Private Space is a great feature to keep your apps and data private on your phone. Set it up today and enjoy extra security!
